[ Valentine's Day hasn't historically been the best day for Yosuke Hanamura. Sure, he is always a little hopeful it might turn around, but for the most part it's a day of weird cheap candies that teachers might hand out to their students or other classmates might feel obligated to hand out too. Nothing personal. Not anything really noteworthy. Though it's more of an American custom, he's taken to getting his mom flowers, but he's not even sure if he should bother this year. (What if she doesn't want to hear from him?)

But this year was supposed to be different. He had a Valentine! Who...of course, is what, seven hours away? Sigh. Figures.

He knows he shouldn't be so mopey considering that he encouraged Yu to go on the mission and that Yu is likely struggling more than he is. Just since leaving his parents place and then sending Yu off, it's been...well. Not the easiest.

So, yeah, he's a little mopey.

Maybe that's why he's at school early, for once. Actually do something gross like schoolwork in the library or something to take his mind off of things.

He just doesn't expect too many other students to be there, unless they're there for those before school sports and drill practices. Gross. ]

[She's up and out of the house earlier than the rest of her family to make sure she gets to school early enough to finish some of the student council's Valentine's preparations. She lets herself into the council office to retrieve a giant box of decorations, hauling it out into the hall and starting to put them up. It's when she's stretching to put some pink streamers over an arch of lockers that she hears footsteps down the hallway and she turns, spotting a familiar face walking her way.]

Yosuke! [She immediately gasps quietly, unsure if she should have actually called out to him. He was here early. That must mean he had something important to be doing right? She probably shouldn't disturb him but she lifts her hand in a little wave.]

[ It's unexpected, that's for sure, but not necessarily unwelcome. Yosuke is a people person, after all. He looks up from the floor, where he'd been staring as he walked down the hall. ]

Rise?

[ The cute girl from homeroom who is also now a Retrospec user. He takes a second, but he waves back, straightening up a little. No need to be mopey on someone who's only been friendly. ]

[Ohgodohgodohgod okay...okay it's fine! This is fine and they're alone and Yosuke's been nothing but nice to her so it's easier to smile at him even while holding a roll of streamer paper and scotch tape.]

Good morning! You're here really early. Shouldn't I be asking you the same thing? [The grin is borderline teasing, but it's still tentative.]

[ He'll walk on over and scratch the side of his nose. ]

Yeah. I've just got a couple of things I wanna get done. I probably should've gotten coffee or something first.

[ Mr. Overachiever? Hahaha. Right. Not part of his reputation. He does notice the craft supplies, though. He'll pause a few feet away from her and shove his hand into his pocket. ]

Oh, you're on the party committee?

[ Student Council, Yosuke. ]

[She gives another cursory glance because yeah, she's pretty sure she's never seen him here early, like, ever, but there's a smile nevertheless.]

There's a coffee stand down the street that's open already. I go there sometimes. And it's Student Council stuff! I didn't get to finish decorating everything for the holiday so I came in early to finish it up. I didn't think anyone else would be here.

Yeah, I know the one. I guess there's still time, right?

[ Not like he actually wants to do homework or anything. ]

...Oh yeah, Valentine's Day.

[ Don't sound too excited.

Actually, he feels a little bad with how unenthused he sounds. So he quickly rushes into, ]

A little bit of time, yeah. [She holds up the streamers in her hand and she eyes the locker again.]
